Fairways2play was born out of a desire within two people to create a business that we were passionate about, which could provide some stability in uncertain times. With the threat of redundancy looming over both of us and a reasonably serious car accident limiting Jason’s ability to work long hours as a chef, we decided that we should take control of our own destinies. Some may say that to set up a business in a recession is madness, but we wanted to dictate our future, rather than be prone to the ups and downs of other people’s businesses, so we took the chance.

We combined our two passions: golf and marketing/customer service, to come up with an online site that offered golfers a complete online resource for everything golf. It didn’t start out as a complete idea though, and originally was to be a golf course directory that would be that little bit different to the other online directories. Rather than simply to offer a list of courses, we wanted to make it a really useful tool for the user and allow the user to be very selective about the facilities that matter to them as an individual when they are looking for a new course to play.

Our desire to offer something that is actually meaningful and useful to the golfer then led to the development of the Emporium, a golf equipment comparison site. The thought behind this was again to allow the user to stay within one site to find a golf course and also to buy the equipment that is needed to play. Again we wanted to offer something different to the golfer, so we didn’t stop at becoming a retailer ourselves, but wanted to be able to provide a comparison function so that users could ensure they were really getting the best deals and service from the major online retailers.

The final part of the puzzle comes from the insatiable desire to provide something useful for golfers and golf clubs alike, and hence the social network was born, more than just a forum!

Our years of customer service and marketing experience have made us extremely customer focussed and driven to provide a service that is not only relevant but also useful to our users. This combined with a love of golf (and a pretty decent handicap) means that we’re doing what we love and hopefully you’ll love it too.

Thanks for visiting our site; we hope that you find it a great tool. In our quest to keep our customers happy, we always welcome your views and comments, so if you would like to get in touch, please send an email to info@fairways2play.co.uk.
